Wheeler, John C. (b. 8 SEP 1782, d. 8 NOV 1861)
Note: !John Wheeler and Elizabeth Lent were not married in the Quaker Church,
probably because she was not Quaker. Frances Wheeler Knox believes John and
Elizabeth are living with Joseph Wheeler thru the 1820 Census, after which
Joseph dies. They then go to Vermont. They settle on land that Joseph may
have recieved from his Revolutionary War service. A young Joseph Wheeler, son
of Justice (also a Quaker) and likely related, gets land from Joseph (land
records) and preceeds the the rest of Joseph's family to Ferrisburg, Vermont.
Joseph probaby never went. John's death certificate indicates he died aged
79-2-0, he was a farmer, he was born in Ulster County, and he died of Fibroid
degeneration of the pancreas after four months of the illness.
Death: 8 NOV 1861 Ferrisburg, Addison, VT

Note: !Edward Wheeler's father died when Edward was about four years old. Frances Wheeler Knox says Edward's father's brother Absolom apparently functioned as a surrogate father and grandfather because she has a letter from her uncle C. Edward writing about "grandfather Ab." Edward as a young man and his mother Laura Peck Wheeler went to Kansas where he married.
