IN NEW YORK CITY TUESDAY. Relatives and Few Friends Witness Ceremony at Little
Church Around the Corner, To Live at Wingdale. Miss Luella Mae Barrett,
youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Barrett, of Gomer Street, Jerrerson
Valley, became the bride of Benjamin Brady, only son of Mrs. Ollie Brady and
the late Cornelius Brady, of Garden Street, Brewster, on Tuesday, June 1st,
1937, at high noon at the Little Church Around the Corner, 29th Street and 1st
Avenue, New York City. The ceremony was performed by the pastor of the church
in the presence of the immediate families and a few friends, the Episcopal
ceremony being used. The altar was beautifully decorated with red roses. The
bride looked charming in a white lace gown redingote style with white
accessories and a white horsehair hat and carried an old-fashioned nosegay of
white roses and pastel shades of other flowers. Mrs. Walter Clearwater, sister
of the bride, was matron of honor, and was attired in peach mousseline de soire
and lace gown with peach accessories. She also wore a large hat of horsehair
and carried a nosegay of talisman roses and pastel shades of other flowers.
John Haler, of Pawling, a cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. Telegrams of
congratulations were received by newly-weds from those who were unable to
attend. After the ceremony the bride and groom received congratulations from
relatives and friends. Later a wedding breakfast was served at Murray's at
Tuckahoe. The bride's gift to her attendant was a beautiful compact, while the
groom gave his attendant a leather wallet. After a honeymoon trip to Cape Cod,
Mr. and Mrs. Brady will reside at Wingdale. The bride's going-away suit was of
brown linen with yellow accessories. Mr. Brady has a position at Harlem Valley
State hospital. They are both very popular young people and their many friends
wish them a long and happy wedded life."
