Note: ! William Watson Donaldson was a farmer, born in New York City, 6 Jul 1837,
son of John and Mary (McCormick) Donaldson. He and Philinda Whitney settled at
Beekmanville, NY, where they were still living in 1874. He enlisted, 11 Oct
1862, in Co. G, 150th Reg., N.Y.kS. Vols, and took part in the battles of
Bettysburgh [sic], PA, Resaca, GA, Dallas, GA, Atlanta, GA, Savannah, GA,
Averysborough, NC, and Burtonsville, NC. He was mustered out 8 Jun 1865.
Since the source has the family settling in Beekmanville, and the child born
in Beekman, there may be an error. Beekman is likely correct.

Ludingtonville, NY, in 1874. He served for three years in the war of 1861 [sic],
enlisting 4 Sep 1862, in the 172d Regiment, or Anthony Wayne Guard. He was
transferred to Company L, 6th Regiment, NY Heavy Artillery, and was
discharged, as a corporal, 20 Jul 1865 "having been in the battles of
Williamsport, Manassas Gap, Bristow Station, eleven days in the Wilderness,
Spottsylvania, Allisons Farms, Bethesda Church, North Anna River, Cold Harbor,
Petersburgh, Cedar Creek, Shenandoah Valley, and Bermuda Front."

as a result of sunstroke.
