Barrett, Ebenezer E (b. 1784, d. 31 MAY 1864)

Note: ! Ebenezer was a Carmel Farmer. Azor B. Crane and Benjamin T. Crane
petitioned Surrogate Court on 15 Jun 1864, representing that Ebenezer Barrett, a
resident of Putnam County, died 31 May 1864 at Carmel. His widow Nancy is
named, as are the children, and the grandchildren of those children deceased.
Places of residence are also provided. The petitioners report that the estate
and effects did not exceed in value the sum of $4500 (1). The will was signed
20 Jan 1860 (3).

Hopkins died of pneumonia.

Barrett, Winfred Valentine (b. 14 FEB 1881, d. 17 MAY 1935)

died in 1937, that left four small orphans. Winfred's mother found separate
homes for each of them, and their names changed. Even though they were
separated, they all kept in touch.

!Winfred Valentine Barrett died at age 54 of a burst appendix. When Ophelia died
in 1937, that left four small orphans. Winfred's mother found separate homes for
each of them, and their names changed. Even though they were separated, they
all kept in touch (1).
Betsey Patterson was here on 20 Jun 1996, bringing along a friend Mrs. Judy
Kelley. I was in for a surprise which should interest you also--you and Rob. It
seems Winfred Valentine BARRETT [W086] who married Ophelia Lucy Smith had a
child none of us knew about, Winfred Valentine BARRETT, Jr. b. 16 Dec. 1935
after Winfred, Sr. had died 17 May 1935. Ophelia died in 1937 and the children
were given for adoption. That, in fact, is how Betsey Patterson got involved-
-trying to find Barrett ancestry for the child Grace (Annette Mae (Grant)).
Winfred Jr. went to Walter and Mildred Moberg and his name was changed to Carl
Moberg. Mrs. Judy Kelley is Carl's fiancee and is trying to find HIS Barrett
ancestry (2).
