Barrett, Laura Ann (b. 1804, d. 23 NOV 1862)

Note: !MARRIAGE: By Rev. Nathaniel Robinson.
Absalom Barrett petitioned the Surrogate Court on 26 Nov 1862, representing
that Laura Ann Barrett, a resident of Putnam Valley, died there 22 Nov 1862,
leaving a will. No husband survived. The children were Absalom and Sarles, a
minor (1). The will was signed 09 Jun 1862 when Laura Ann Barrett of Putnam
Valley was 56 years of age. She gives son Absalom $1500 and Absalom's son
Ferris $500 when he becomes 21. She gives son Sarles all the rest and states
that if Absalom incurs expenses trying to break the will, the cost is to come
out of his $1500. Thomas J. Brevoort and Samuel T. Barrett (Laura Ann's
brother) are named as Executors of the will (2).

Note: ! Sarah Drew of the Town of Carmel died aged 102/4/5. She was called "Aunt
Sally." Her will was signed 24 Jun 1864 and mentions daughter Jemima, wife of
Nathaniel Wixon, daughter Fanny, wife of Isaac Bennett, and daughter Sarah, wife
of Hiram Cole. Also mentioned were Amanda Jane and Charlotte, daughters of her
deceased daughter Annie. The executor was Hiram Cole. A codicil changing the
executor to Elon G. Barrett was signed 18 May 1889 because Hiram Cole died. The
will was probated 16 Sep 1890. !!!!!ATTENTION!!!!!Spouses of daughters herein
named conflict with those given in Sarah's husband John's will; Minnie Cowen may
have erred when she abstracted this will.

Barrett, John (b. 4 NOV 1782, d. 26 DEC 1861)

Note: ! John Barrett eventually acquired his father's old homestead by purchasing
the shares from the heirs. On this place he lived and died, and the place
descended to his son Allen (1). Hiram Cole petitioned Surrogate Court on 16 Jan
1862 representing that John Barrett died 26 Dec 1861 at Carmel, a resident of
Putnam County, leaving a will. The widow was Sarah of Carmel. The living
children are listed as Allen, Moseman, Isaac D., Sarah, Fanny and Jemima of
Carmel and John, Jr. of East Fishkill, Simeon of Cattaraugus County and Wright
of Wisconsin. Deceased Ferris' children, Absalom and Sarles of Putnam Valley
are listed, as are deceased Anice Mead's children, Amanda Jane and Charlotte of
East Fishkill. All grandchildren are of age except Sarles and Charlotte (3).
