1850 - U.S. Census - listed as farmer aged 25 with wife Eliza aged 24
1853 - one of the 31 members from Bedford who organized Banksville Baptist
Church on Aug. 8, 1853 in the Town of Greenwich
1853 - Henry Barrett moved to Sing Sing and ran a bakery and was a prison guard
Henry Barrett's obituary:
DIED * Henry Barrett, one of the best known and most respected residents of
Ossining, died at his home there in his 82nd year, on Saturday, March 9th.
He was born in Bedford and was the son of John Barrett, a Baptist clergyman.
In his young manhood he went to that section and taught school in Ossining,
also at the Camp Woods and at Sparta.
He subsequently learned the trade of file-maker, and was employed as an
officer at Sing Sing Prison. He was for a long time an active member of the
First Baptist Church. He was married twice, his second wife and one son, Prof.
Frank S. Barrett, of Brooklyn surviving him.
The funeral was held from his late residence on Tuesday, and the interment
was in Buxton Cemetery, Bedford.
He is also survived by two half-brothers, John J. Barrett, of Mount Kisco
and S. H. Barrett, of Auburn, NY.
