Note: !David M. Barrett was a Bedford farmer and Stamford farmer and coal and wood
dealer. He was in the Bedford Census of 1850, 1860, and 1870.
His obituary in the Stamford Advocate:
David M. Barrett, who died Wednesday, Sep 10th, at his late home in Sound
Beach, aged 80 years, was for years engaged in Stamford in the coal and wood
business. Mr. Barrett was originally from Bedford, NY. He conducted a large
farm at Bedford, and after disposing of that, went into truck-farming at
Stamford, and started a starch feed business besides. Afterwards Mr. B
established a coal yard at Waterside, which he conducted until about eight
years ago, when he sold it to Angevine & Co., and retired from business. Since
that time, he has been living at Long Ridge and more recently at Sound Beach.
Mr. Barrett was married three times. He is survived by a widow and children,
one of whom is the widow of Frank Baldwin.
Sound Beach, where David Barrett died, is not on recent maps. It must have been
in Fairfield County CT, near Stamford--(RSB 07/96).

Note: !Phebe Zarr was the second wife of David M. Barrett, the mother (apparently) of
his only children. Her obituary:
Mrs. David M. Barrett, died at her home in Stamford, Conn. on Friday morning
last, Jan. 1st, 1892, aged about 70 years. She was a lady well known and
highly respected here, where they formerly lived. Her husband for many years
kept the hardware store, now run by James H. Reynolds. Mrs. Barrett was a
sister of James B. Zarr, of this place. She leaves a husband and three
daughters - Mrs. W. H. Reynolds of Bedford Station, Mrs. Frank Baldwin of
Stamford, CT and Mrs. William Shute of New Rochelle. Her remains were brought
here last Sunday and interred in the family plot in the Buxton Cemetery.
