Barrett, Reuben R (b. 1762, d. 4 AUG 1830)
Note: !During the Revolutionary War, Reuben Barrett enlisted (1777 until 1783) in the
Militia under Capt. Marcus Moseman and Lt. Silas Miller.
Reuben Barrett of the Town of Kent died aged 65/9/27. Samuel H. Barrett, James
Drew and Bennet Boyd were the executors of Reuben's will (which was dated 14
Sep 1829). Their petition of 18 Aug 1830 to Surrogate Court established
Reuben's date and place of death, stating before his death he lived in Putnam
County. It also names the wife and children listed in this family record
(except Reuben R:2012). All resided in Kent on the date of the petition, except
Mary and Phebe in Fishkill, Elizabeth in Friendship, and Reuben and Jemima,
children of Esther, in Carmel. The will was probated 08 Oct 1830. His widow's
pension file is W 25211.

Note: !Elizabeth became engaged but her future husband died before their wedding.
Betty was alone and depressed. She had inherited the family House of 1840 in
Poughkeepsie. She made her will and left the house and everything in it to the
Dutchess Art Association which her father Thomas started in 1934. She had
become an alcoholic and she began to drink and lit a cigarette and burned
herself to death. By 1982 the Barrett House at 55 Noxon Street, Poughkeepsie
471-2550 had been repaired and a director hired. Classes and exhibits are
given. Thomas would be satisfied. Some papers were given to the Adriance
Library in Pougkeepsie.
